Cast: Edward Norton, Edward

Rating: 7/10
Tagline: His father taught him to hate. His
friends taught him rage. His enemies gave him hope.
The film follows the Vinyards, primarily
Derek (Norton) and his younger brother Danny (Furlong), grapple with the “white-man-in-a-progressively-liberal-america”
syndrome. At a very impressionable young age, Norton has had hate against the black
man planted in his mind by a firefighter father who is increasingly scared that
his back is being covered by a bunch of incompetent black men. The subsequent
death of his father drives him straight into the open arms of a conniving demagogue-Cameron
Alexander. A prison term puts Derek’s
life upside down as white men betray him and a black man protects him.
In order to avoid his younger brother Danny from going down the same path as
him, Derek pulls out all stops as he reorders his priorities in life. Film-noir
at its prime and Norton in one of the most electrifying performances of his
career, this film is not to be missed.
Nominated for an Oscar(Best Actor in a Leading Role-Norton).
